India has a a rich culture of jewels and jewelry, most of them in form of Gold Jewelry, Silver Jewelry and Meenakari. And apart from these forms, we love Bollywood kinda jewelry, very colorful and bright. We hate dull colors. That's reflected in our home decor to a typical Indian Bride's traditional outfit. Where as if you create wire jewelry, it neither involve the perfect and kinda typical Indian designs nor they are much glittery.

And that's why in India, wire jewelry is a completely new form, especially the Western part of India, where I belong. So, when I started making wire jewelry, I received some odd response from the people around, like, "Are they the same wire, used by electricians?", or "Are those earring sturdy? I can bend them easily." or "These stuff belongs to a different class of people, who buys them here?" or "Oww, this is something new!" or "Can you make something glittery?"
Though some artists in India are now towards creating jewelry in new forms of wire, fabric, raw metal and more. Thanks to those first movers who are trying to set a new trend in Jewelry Industry and creating very beautiful handcrafted mix media jewelry, and I can see a niche market in at least metros and Southern part of India where Sari and Jewelry are essentials for a woman.
With the thought of creating some pieces for this niche, I have designed a collection of wire jewelry- Filigree, which is based on basic wire weaving and wire wrapping techniques. These collection is created using brass, copper and silver wire works and some pretty beads.
